Always A Stranger

I just finished watching the film adaptation of Gone Girl, maybe because Gillian Flynn wrote the screenplay it was good, very good and as faithful to the book as a movie can be. Another surprise was that Ben Affleck was actually good, I think he made Nick Dunne an even bigger asshole than he was in the book, but then again Ben Affleck already seems like a major asshole so he probably didn't have to try in that regard.

Gone Girl was such a huge hit and I understand why, firstly Flynn is talented and secondly she tapped into a common fear, the fear that you never really know anyone in your life. And that's frightening. That's something I think about, a lot. No matter how well you think you know someone, you never really do. Maybe that's why I fear meeting new people, let alone entering into a romantic relationship.
